Minister Dekker: “People with problems seek a solution, not a complicated and lengthy legal procedure. That solution comes closer when helpers and lawyers join forces, as evidenced by the first legal aid pilots. Exactly what we aimed to achieve together.”
Faster and better
Quickly finding a good solution for your problem: that is the goal of the legal aid system reform. Earlier in the cabinet period, various pilots were started to test which methods of working and organizing help the most. Both in the pilot in Hillesluis in Rotterdam and the pilot Collaboration in the first line initiated by the Dutch Bar Association, we see that more intensive collaboration between helpers and lawyers at the local level is bearing fruit for people with problems.
Legal issues are identified faster, allowing for earlier solutions to be sought. For more complex cases, there is a short line to social lawyers. The seeker of justice benefits from local parties knowing each other better and being able to find one another.
