Mr. Severeijns will serve as a criminal law judge based in Sint Maarten. She is currently a counselor at the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal. Previously, she was a senior judge at the Midden-Nederland District Court.
The Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba administers justice on the islands. Judges at the Joint Court of Justice handle civil cases, criminal cases, and administrative law cases (including tax matters), both at first instance and on appeal. The Joint Court is also involved in special judicial panels (such as for civil servant cases) and panels responsible for disciplinary law. The Court consists of locally appointed judges and deployed judges.
