Rick Lawson has been a professor of European human rights protection at Leiden University since 2001. He has also been a member and vice-chair of the Management Board of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights in Vienna since 2020. He succeeds interim chair Nico Schrijver, whose appointment ends on July 1, 2025. Mr. Schrijver has agreed to continue his interim chairmanship until September 1, 2025. The Council of Ministers has approved this.
Pollyan Spoon is currently working as the deputy head of Administrative and Legal Affairs at the Public Prosecution Service. Previously, she served as a public prosecutor in various offices of the Public Prosecution Service and worked as a lawyer.
The Netherlands Institute for Human Rights is the national and independent institution that oversees compliance with human rights in the Netherlands, including the Caribbean Netherlands. The Institute conducts research, provides advice, education, and information. Additionally, anyone who feels discriminated against at work, in education, or as a consumer can report this or file a complaint. The Institute assesses individual cases to determine whether discrimination has occurred in accordance with equal treatment legislation.
