Therefore, the neutral appearance of the boa uniform has been established in a General Administrative Regulation at the proposal of Minister Van Weel of Justice and Security. The wearing of visible expressions of religion or belief by uniformed boas in function is therefore not allowed. The decision is now being sent for advice to the Council of State.
Minister Van Weel: “Everyone has their own views and beliefs. They can also exist for boas. However, at the moment a boa puts on the uniform, that person radiates the neutrality that belongs to the function. Therefore, no expression of faith or beliefs should be given in the boa uniform. By establishing this in national regulations, we create clarity and boas can perform their tasks uniformly and recognizably throughout the Netherlands.”
