Research shows that awareness of undermining crime is still low. Moreover, people are often hesitant to take action or report unless the situation directly affects their own safety. This hesitation makes it difficult to effectively combat crime.

Results of the First Phase

The first phase of the campaign had a noticeable effect. During that period, Meld Misdaad Anoniem received 526 reports of possible undermining activities - a significant increase compared to 120 reports in the same period a year earlier. The total number of reports increased by 29%. It also appears that people are quicker to recognize suspicious situations and dare to report or take action after seeing the campaign.

To further increase this awareness, TV commercials and online videos will be visible again starting in September. In the second phase of the campaign, there is extra attention for young people who are being recruited by criminals for criminal tasks. The campaign points out recognizable signals and provides action perspectives: what can you do if you see something that doesnt seem right?
