There are no other poultry farms within the 3 km zone around the infected location in Toldijk. The farm is located within the 10 km zone established on October 24 due to an avian influenza case at a hobby poultry keeper in Hummelo. Within the new 10 km zone around the Toldijk farm, there are 22 other commercial poultry farms. The 3 km zone around Toldijk overlaps with the 3 km zone around Hummelo; this also applies to both 10 km zones.
Transport Ban
A transport ban is immediately in effect throughout the entire 10-kilometer zone. This means that no poultry and/or hatching and consumption eggs may be transported from locations with birds in this zone. There is also a ban on the removal of bird manure and used litter, as well as other animals and animal products from poultry farms. These measures are necessary to prevent spread to other parts of the country. The location of the 10-kilometer zone can be seen on the animal disease viewer of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
National Measures
Since October 16, 2025, a nationwide housing and shielding obligation applies in the Netherlands. The housing obligation applies to all commercially kept birds, and the shielding obligation applies to non-commercially kept risk birds (for example, hobby chickens). Tracing Investigation
The NVWA is conducting tracing investigations into risky contacts. This investigates whether products or poultry have been transported to and from this location in the period prior to the report. If necessary, additional measures will follow, such as extra sampling or blocking a risky contact farm. These measures will be announced via an update in this press release and through the online channels of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN).
