Within a 1-kilometer radius around this newly infected location, there are 4 other poultry farms; within 3 kilometers, 18 farms; and within 10 kilometers, 217 farms. Some of these farms are also located in the restriction zones around the infections in Bennekom on November 10 and Terschuur on November 17. The farms within the 1- and 3-kilometer zones are screened by the NVWA and then monitored for 10 days through carcass sampling and intensively monitored for 14 days via telephone monitoring.

Transport Ban

A transport ban applies immediately to the entire restriction zone. This means that no birds, hatching eggs, or consumption eggs may be transported from locations with birds in this zone. There is also a ban on the removal of bird manure and used litter. Other animals than birds and their products may be transported to and from locations with birds provided this is done according to the strict conditions of the hygiene protocol.

These measures are necessary to prevent spread to other parts of the country. The exact locations can be seen on the animal diseases viewer of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

National Measures

Since October 16, 2025, a national housing and shielding obligation for avian influenza applies in the Netherlands. The housing obligation applies to all commercially kept birds. The shielding obligation applies to non-commercially kept risk birds (e.g., hobby chickens).

Tracing Investigation

The NVWA conducts tracing investigations into risky contacts. This examines whether products or poultry have been transported to and from this location in the period preceding the report. If necessary, additional measures follow, such as extra sampling or blocking a risky contact farm. These measures are communicated via updates to this press release and through the online channels of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN).
