Minister Eppo Bruins (Education, Culture and Science): “The inspection rightly emphasizes the importance of resilience and citizenship. Equipped and resilient people have the skills to find their way in society. Basic skills provide a strong foundation that students can benefit from for the rest of their lives and build upon. Therefore, we also work in further education with great attention to strengthening this.”
State Secretary Mariëlle Paul (Fundamental Education and Emancipation): “Despite all the hard work of everyone in education, many schools are still not doing well enough. Therefore, we are working on a recovery plan and will continue to fight the teacher shortage and improve reading, writing, arithmetic, citizenship, and digital literacy. In primary schools, the results of students in language and arithmetic are now improving. This is encouraging and gives me confidence that we are on the right track and must stay the course.”
