New Application Round for Employer Subsidy for Status Holders Begins

From June 2 to September 30, the subsidy scheme Support for Employers Hiring Status Holders (SOWIS) is open again. This scheme provides employers with financial support for the guidance of status holders in the workplace, aimed at bridging language and cultural differences. Due to these differences, employers need to make extra efforts to sustainably employ status holders.

Employers can submit an application via the subsidy portal.

Compared to the first application round in 2024, some changes have been made. More status holders are now eligible for the subsidy. Employers can now also apply for subsidies for status holders with a permanent asylum residence permit. Additionally, the subsidy budget has been increased to €3 million.

The SOWIS subsidy can be applied for status holders who have been employed for a maximum of 6 months at the time of the subsidy application, or for status holders who have not previously been employed.

Employers who received subsidies in the previous application round are not eligible this time.
