Minister Mariëlle Paul of Social Affairs and Employment has today launched an internet consultation regarding the bill that regulates the reduction. The child-related budget helps parents with the costs of children. The budget aims to increase childrens opportunities and combat child poverty. The amount of child-related budget parents receive depends on their income and the number of children.
In recent years, the amounts per child have been significantly increased. From this year until 2028, the amounts will gradually increase. Due to the increases, more and more families with higher incomes receive the child-related budget. This is not efficient. For that reason, the government decided this spring to provide parents with an income of up to 60,000 euros less child-related budget starting in 2027. This applies to both parents with a partner and single parents.
