Testing without symptoms with the most suitable tests

The government currently uses 3 types of tests: the PCR test, the LAMP PCR rapid test, and the antigen rapid test. People without symptoms must be tested with an appropriate test. Someone without symptoms can still infect others, so it is important for this group to avoid false negative test results. The PCR and LAMP PCR tests are sufficiently sensitive. It is currently being investigated whether antigen rapid tests can also be used.

Appointment number for people without symptoms

The test you receive depends on your situation and availability at your local location. You cannot choose yourself. To ensure that people without symptoms always receive a suitable test, from December 1 a separate phone number will be available for people identified through source and contact tracing and the CoronaMelder app.

Adhering to basic measures remains crucial

Large-scale and frequent testing of the Dutch population, combined with source and contact tracing, helps keep society open and maintain insight into the virus. But no test, no matter how frequently taken, can defeat the virus alone. Peoples behavior remains the crucial factor. Therefore, adherence to basic measures remains the most important way to prevent the spread of the virus.
