Cabinet Increases Fines for Illegal Sale of Vapes

State Secretary Tielen (Youth, Prevention and Sport): “Nicotine is extremely harmful and highly addictive. We are doing what we can to combat the sale of illegal vapes and thereby protect the health of children. The message to illegal sellers is clear: illegal vape sales will cost you dearly, starting from the first time you are caught.”

The fine for a second offense for online sellers, supermarkets, convenience stores, or cafés will increase by more than €1000 to €3060. If illegal sales are detected in an organization with more than 50 employees, the fine will increase by more than €1300 to €4040. The increase is expected to take effect on July 1, 2026.
