Testing only with symptoms
The phone number is intended for everyone who has mild symptoms consistent with coronavirus. Only with these symptoms will a test be conducted. Without symptoms, there is no point in taking a test. When making appointments, a few questions are briefly asked about the nature of the symptoms. When making the appointment, a BSN number is requested for identification. The caller then receives the time and place where the test will be taken. The aim is to take the test as soon as possible, in principle the next day.
Test results
Whether the result is negative or positive, the caller will be contacted within 48 hours about the result. If there is a coronavirus infection, the regional GGD will call and start source and contact tracing. From the moment someone develops symptoms, that person stays home and is in isolation. Persons diagnosed with the infection remain in isolation and their household members are strongly requested to quarantine at home for 14 days.
Possible longer waiting time at startup
It is expected that many people will call at the same time during the first days. Testing and conducting source and contact tracing is a fixed part of the work of the GGD. But performing this on such a scale is a huge task. This may initially cause longer waiting times to make an appointment and get tested. However, the GGDs will ensure that everyone with symptoms consistent with coronavirus is helped as soon as possible.
