Statement Secretary of State Maeijer regarding the decision of the Examination Committee Erasmus

‘The Examination Committee of Erasmus University Rotterdam has decided, after investigation, to declare my thesis invalid and to revoke the issued diploma. They do not exclude me from the possibility of writing a new thesis on a completely new topic.

This decision is a huge blow for me personally. I completed my studies with the best intentions, but it turns out that significant mistakes were made.

I hold myself very accountable for that, and it should never have happened.

I seize the opportunity to write a new thesis with both hands. I will discuss this with the University. So that I can complete my studies in the way that I have always envisioned. Namely, through hard work and according to the rules.’
