Minister Mona Keijzer: “Building in areas where livability is under pressure, such as in the NPLV areas, requires more than in other neighborhoods. It involves building in densely populated areas with a relatively poor housing stock and an environment that is often deteriorated. With these agreements, more and better quality affordable homes will be created in the areas, allowing for better mobility within the neighborhood. In addition to building homes, we also invest in public spaces, neighborhood facilities, and greenery, so that the environment becomes livable and safe for the residents.”
Zaandam-Oost: plus 1481 affordable homes
With the funds from the Woontop, not only homes will be realized in Zaandam-Oost, but also social facilities such as schools. By financing temporary educational housing, the construction of homes can be accelerated. At the same time, 6 primary schools are being renovated in Zaandam-Oost.
For example, primary school De Gouw, which is currently in poor condition, will be relocated to another spot in the neighborhood. Better educational housing along with extra teaching time, made possible with the SPUK Kansrijke wijk, should improve the equality of opportunity for children in Zaandam-Oost. By adding more mid-range homes, current residents can move within the neighborhood and new residents can settle.
Utrecht Overvecht: plus 2031 homes of which 1747 affordable
In Utrecht Overvecht, the acceleration of housing construction with funds from the Woontop is accompanied by the improvement of public spaces and facilities. Investments are being made in the Amazonekwartier and Neckardreef Noord. In addition, housing projects are being supported in Overvecht, such as the proposed development at the P+R location next to Overvecht station.
There is also a need for more mid-range rental homes and affordable purchase homes in Overvecht, such as at De Mix. For people who want to move within Overvecht to another home, and people from outside. The Spoorzoompark will also be better arranged for meeting and movement: the plans are being further developed.
Den Haag Zuidwest: plus 6000 affordable homes
In Den Haag Zuidwest, investments are being made to realize 6000 affordable homes in a livable residential environment that encourages more movement and social interaction. Existing sports facilities are also being addressed with funds from the Woontop.
For example, Sportpark Escamp 1, next to the 1300 new homes in the Zichten project, will be redesigned. New walking routes and bridges will give pedestrians and cyclists access to the sports complex. A strip with freely accessible movement and play facilities will be set up in the sports park, as well as an ecological zone.
In addition to this greenery, Zuidwest will receive a boost with 55 inner gardens, which will be created in consultation with the residents. Zuidwest is also investing in the further development of a local neighborhood business.
