The Senate debated on Tuesday, March 18, with Minister Faber of Asylum and Migration about the revenues and expenditures of her ministry for 2025. The Chamber will vote on the budget and submitted motions on Tuesday, March 25.
Seven motions were submitted:
- Motion-Karimi et al. on the rapid and complete implementation of the Distribution Act. This motion received the advice judgment of the Chamber from the minister.
- Motion-Karimi et al. on joint solutions for the flow of status holders. The motion is discouraged by the minister.
- Motion-Dittrich et al. on stable financing of IND and COA in the Spring Memorandum 2025. This motion is also discouraged.
- Motion-Dittrich et al. on an execution test for partners in the asylum chain. The motion is discouraged.
- Motion-Huizinga-Heringa et al. on the financing of the IND. This too is discouraged.
- Motion-Huizinga-Heringa et al. on the sustainable exploitation of reception places by the COA. The minister has discouraged the motion.
- Motion-Schalk et al. on a realistic estimate and phase-out path for the long-term budget for immigration and asylum. This motion is also discouraged.
Minister Faber of Asylum and Migration said she realizes that she and the Chamber depend on each other. The withdrawal of the Distribution Act is accompanied by accompanying policies, such as transit locations. The strictest admission requirements ever are also being introduced. All this together should help reduce pressure on the IND, asylum reception, the judiciary, housing, care, and education.
