The committee for Immigration & Asylum/JBZ Council will hold an expert meeting on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 09:30 to 12:00 regarding two asylum law proposals pending in the Senate. This was decided by the committee on September 23, 2025. Nine experts will highlight the proposed Law on the Introduction of a Two-Status System (36.703) and Emergency Asylum Measures Act (36.704). The submission date for the reports on the proposals has been moved to October 14, 2025.
The speakers will address the audience in three blocks. In the first block, Milo Schoenmaker, chairman of the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA), Rhodia Maas, director-general of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND), and Kees van Rooij, member of the Temporary Committee on Asylum & Migration of the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) and mayor of Meierijstad, will speak.
In block 2, the following experts will speak: Karin Krukkert, portfolio holder for immigration issues, migration crime, and human trafficking at the Police, Liesbeth Huijzer, acting inspector-general at the Justice and Security Inspectorate, and Myrthe Wijnkoop, coordinating senior advocacy at Refugee Work.
In the last block, Tanno Klijn, director at Nidos (Youth Protection for Refugees), Rick Lawson, chairman of the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights, and Monique Kremer, chair of the Migration Advisory Board, will speak.

The position papers of the speakers will be available from Monday, October 6.
