The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is holding a conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI): Towards AI Maturity. 30 ICT specialists from parliaments worldwide have gathered. They are discussing the use of artificial intelligence in the work of parliaments.
The conference was opened by Luuk van Luijk, first deputy clerk of the Senate. Following this, Patricia Almeida from the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil and Andy Williamson from the IPU Centre for Innovation in Parliament gave brief introductions.
In the coming days, various topics will be addressed. For example, how parliaments can develop an AI strategy will be discussed. Management issues that play a role in the development of AI architecture will also be covered. Furthermore, the consideration between make or buy and the criteria for AI procurement will be discussed. There will also be attention to safeguarding public values and the culture of organizations in relation to the deployment of AI in parliamentary work processes. Finally, it will be explored how cooperation between parliaments in this area can be further developed.
