Those who wanted to see up close where the king delivered the throne speech on Prinsjesdag had the opportunity for the first time this year. About 500 people visited the Royal Theatre in The Hague after the Joint Assembly on September 16. They got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look. They could view the throne as well as the historical interior of the theatre. Additionally, there was a special exhibition featuring photography from fifty years of Prinsjesdag.
Staff from the First and Second Chambers, the Royal Theatre, and the National Real Estate Agency talked about Prinsjesdag, the theatre, the thrones, and how this year for the fourth time the theatre transformed into the meeting room for the members of the States General. Due to the renovation of the Binnenhof, and thus the Ridderzaal, the members of Parliament have been meeting on Prinsjesdag in the Royal Theatre since 2022.
