On Tuesday, June 10, various permanent parliamentary committees discussed ongoing legislative proposals. Below is a selection of these committee meetings. A complete overview can be found here.
The Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Development Cooperation advised to start the plenary debate on the private members bill on financial defense obligations (36.353) on Monday evening, June 16, 2025, and to complete it on Tuesday, including voting. The proposal from the Kemperman faction to declare the private members bill controversial was insufficiently supported.
The Committee on Finance confirmed the decision of the committee of May 27, 2025, to request the Chamber for leave for a plenary debate on the Spring Memorandum (36.725), to be held on July 1, 2025.
In the Committee on Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the BBB faction (Jaspers) contributed to written consultation on the Directive to amend the protection status of the wolf. The committee will provide an opportunity for further contributions on July 1, 2025 (E250003 - 33576, AK).
In the Committee on Internal Affairs, the GreenLeft-PvDA faction (Fiers) contributed to consultation on the cabinets response to the 2023 Annual Report of the National Ombudsman and the Childrens Ombudsman (36521, B). The factions of BBB (Van Langen-Visbeek) and the PVV (Van Hattem) provided written contributions for consultation on the evaluation of the experiment with a new ballot paper in the European Parliament elections in 2024.
In the Committee on Health, Welfare and Sport, the factions of BBB (Van Wijk) and CDA (Prins) contributed to consultation on the Quality Registries in Healthcare Act (36.278). In the same committee, the following factions contributed to consultation on the Act to Improve Availability of Youth Care (36.546): BBB (Van Wijk), GreenLeft-PvDA (Janssen), VVD (Van der Linden), CDA (Prins), D66 (Moonen), SP (Van Aelst), ChristianUnion (Talsma), SGP (De Vries) and OPNL (Van der Goot).
In the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Development Cooperation, contributions were made in the context of the political dialogue with the European Commission by the factions of BBB (Marquart Scholtz), VVD (Petersen), D66 (Belhirch) and PvdD (Koffeman) (E250008).
In the Committee on Social Affairs and Employment, the following factions contributed to consultation on the Participation Act in Balance (36.582): BBB (Heijnen), GreenLeft-PvDA (Ramsodit), VVD (Petersen), CDA (Bakker-Klein), D66 (Belhirch), ChristianUnion (Huizinga-Heringa), SGP (Schalk) and Volt (Perin-Gopie).
The Committee on Finance spoke with the Court of Audit about strengthening its steering role. Guests included President Pieter Duisenberg and members Ewout Irrgang and Barbara Joziasse. On May 20, 2025, the committee held an oral consultation with Minister Heinen of Finance regarding his conclusions following the report of the Slootweg Committee on strengthening the steering role of the Court of Audit. The committee indicated that it also wanted to speak with the Court of Audit and the Audit Department of the Ministry of Finance about this report.
The Senate committees discuss legislative proposals and meet regularly. Committees assess whether a legislative proposal is ready for plenary treatment or if there are still questions to be raised with the government. Legislative proposals with a blank report are dealt with as a hammer piece. The most important decisions of the committees are made public as brief notes.
