On Tuesday, June 3, various permanent Chamber Committees discussed ongoing legislative proposals. Below is a selection of these committee meetings. A complete overview can be found here.
The committee for Economic Affairs/Climate and Green Growth (EZ/KGG) held an expert meeting on mining damage. The committee received a letter from Minister Hermans of Climate and Green Growth regarding the cabinets response to the Council of States advice on the expansion of the legal presumption of evidence to mining activities in the Netherlands. The letter also addressed the improvement of the position of damage claimants in relation to companies. The committee decided to organize an expert meeting in response to this cabinet reaction.
The committee for Health, Welfare, and Sport (VWS) decided on May 13, 2025, to accept the offer from the Council for Public Health & Society (RVS) for a technical briefing on the RVS advice Almost Everyone is Sick; On the Downsides of Diagnostic Expansion. The committee also asked the RVS in the briefing to address the RVS advice On Our Health; The Need for Stronger Public Health Care from 2023 and the recently published cabinet response on that.
The committee for Immigration and Asylum/JBZ Council (I&A/JBZ) decided to submit the legislative proposal Use of Biometrics in Automatic Border Control for voting at the next plenary meeting.
The committee for Immigration and Asylum/JBZ Council (I&A/JBZ) discussed Proposal for a Return Regulation. The committee proposes to establish a parliamentary treatment reservation for the proposal for a Return Regulation. A letter from the committee to the Chair will also be established. This will be included in the hammer items list for the plenary meeting on June 10, 2025.
The committee also decided to hold a technical briefing with an official from the European Commission about this regulation, if possible, before the summer recess.

The committee for Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) discussed:
- -Law Revision of One-Time Amount. The committee decided that factions can submit contributions for written consultation on June 17.
- -Future Pension System. The committee decided that factions can submit contributions for written consultation on June 17.
- -Law on Increasing Minimum Wage 2024. Contributions for further written consultation have been submitted by members of the GroenLinks-PvdA faction and CDA faction jointly (Vos/Bakker-Klein) and by members of the PVV faction (Bezaan).
The committee for European Affairs (EUZA) discussed a letter from Minister Veldkamp of Foreign Affairs regarding the State of the European Union 2025. Contributions for written consultation with the government regarding the State of the Union 2025 have been submitted by the factions of BBB (Panman), D66 (Aerdts), PvdD (Visseren-Hamakers), FVD (Dessing), Volt (Hartog) and the factions of OPNL, CDA and ChristenUnie jointly. During the next meeting, the committee will discuss what effects the fall of the Schoof cabinet has on the planning of the General European Discussions this autumn.
Senate committees discuss legislative proposals and meet regularly. Committees assess whether a legislative proposal is ready for plenary treatment or if there are still questions to be asked to the government.
