The Senate commemorated former senator Minny Luimstra-Albeda on January 14, 2025. She served the CDA in the Senate from November 17, 1992, to June 8, 1999, focusing on culture and European cooperation. Before her political career, Luimstra worked with various business associations, including the Dutch Christian Employers Association and the Dutch Catholic Middle-Class Association. In 1982, she became an alderman for art affairs, elderly care, and welfare in Amsterdam. From 1986, she served as an alderman for culture and youth affairs. Her maiden speech in the Senate in 1993 addressed the need for leadership in monument conservation. Luimstra was also involved in cultural organizations and housing, serving as chairwoman of the Biblical Museum Foundation in Amsterdam and the Walter Süskind Foundation.

Senate President Jan Anthonie Bruijn quoted her brother, former senator Wil Albeda, during the commemoration: He described his sister as a spontaneous, intelligent, and witty woman. Her political and social career reflected her deep social involvement. May our respect for her person and her contributions to society and Dutch parliamentary democracy support her family and friends.
