On March 5, former senator Friso Meeter passed away at the age of 89. Meeter served as a member of the Senate from March 11, 1997, to June 8, 1999, representing the PvdA faction, primarily focusing on justice, particularly civil law. Friso Meeter will be commemorated at a later date.
