Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the members of both Chambers of the States General today in the House of Representatives. He did this at the invitation of the House of Representatives. Zelensky is in The Hague for the NATO summit.
In his welcoming speech, House of Representatives Chairman Martin Bosma thanked Ukraine for their struggle, which he said also serves our freedom. President Zelensky thanked the Netherlands in turn as a defender of lives for providing support for many years. He further stated that the daily attacks from Russia are no longer explainable on a human level. Attacks that also took place last night in Dnipro, resulting in more casualties.
Zelensky warned of the possible consequences for NATO countries. He said: Knowing what you have a right to begins with knowing what you do not have a right to. There are rules that every country must adhere to. And Russia is not doing that now. He called on Parliament for even more isolation and tougher sanctions, such as cutting Russia off from international financing. Zelensky: Russia is stronger than countries that stand alone, but weaker when we work together.
Member of the House of Representatives Jesse Klaver, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, then concluded. He thanked Ukraine on behalf of both Chambers for the struggle that also contributes to peace and democracy in other countries. He said that we live in turbulent times. Klaver: Despite the ongoing events worldwide, it is important that we continuously tell the story of the war in Ukraine.
