Senator Eric Kemperman is leaving the BBB fraction in the Senate and will continue as a one-man fraction. On the evening of May 19, he sent a letter about this to the President of the Senate Jan Anthonie Bruijn. Earlier that day, he had informed the BBB board and his fellow party members in the Senate about this.
Kemperman has been a member of the Senate since June 13, 2023. Since September 25, he has been the chairman of the Senate Committee on Infrastructure and Water Management / Housing and Spatial Planning (I&W/VRO). He is stepping down from that chairmanship.
As a result of the split, the Senate now has 16 factions instead of 15. The BBB remains the largest party in the Senate with 15 seats.
