President von der Leyen and the College visited New Delhi to strengthen ties with India. They met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to further develop the EU-India Strategic Partnership.

This visit marked a significant step in the relationship. It will contribute to shaping the new EU-India Strategic Agenda announced by President von der Leyen.

Von der Leyen delivered a keynote speech and addressed the press with Modi.

She emphasized the need to realign common priorities.

Three core areas were discussed: trade and technology, security and defence, and connectivity.

Von der Leyen and Modi agreed to accelerate the EU-India trade negotiations.

A security and defence partnership with India was discussed.

Cooperation on the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC) was also addressed.

Other cooperation areas include AI, 6G, and more resilient supply chains.

The EU-India Trade and Technology Council was a focal point during the second meeting.
