The European Commission has disbursed a total of €3.07 billion to three Member States – Austria, Croatia and Belgium - under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the centrepiece of NextGenerationEU. The disbursements are part of the Commissions efforts to support the economic growth and resilience of EU Member States and are based on the successful steps in the implementation of reforms and investments outlined in each countrys recovery and resilience plan.

Austria: €1.62 billion disbursement

The Commission has disbursed € 1.62 billion to Austria, representing the second payment in line with its national plan under the RRF. The payment covers 67 milestones and targets, including important steps in the delivery of reforms focusing on decarbonising the building stock, implementing carbon taxation, and reforming pensions, as well as investments in areas such as sustainable mobility, healthcare, skills development, circular economy and biodiversity, culture, and the digitalisation of public administration.

The total funds paid out to Austria under the RRF now stand at €2.8 billion, which is around 71% of the total allocation, including prefinancing allocated at the start of the plan. Austrias overall recovery and resilience plan is financed by € 4 billion in grants.

Croatia: €835.6 million disbursement

The Commission has disbursed €835.6 million to Croatia, representing the sixth payment for the country under the RRF. The payment covers 26 milestones and targets.

The reforms and investments tied to this payment will drive positive change for Croatian citizens and businesses – notably in the areas of health, fight against corruption, geothermal exploration and hydrogen development, water management, resilience against natural disasters, the electricity grids of islands, and energy security.

The total funds paid out to Croatia under the RRF now stand at € 5.3 billion, which is around 53% of the total allocation, including initial funds allocated at the start of the plan. Croatias overall recovery and resilience plan is financed by €10billion, in grants and loans.

Belgium: €614 million disbursement

The Commission has disbursed €614 million to Belgium, representing the third payment for the country under the RRF. This payment includes €594 million in grants and €20 million in loans and covers 21 milestones and 14 targets.

These milestones and targets cover several reforms and investments in the areas of spending reviews, labour market, childcare infrastructure, education, training and climate adaptation. They also include the improvement of railways, urban mobility solutions, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and research and development. The total funds paid out to Belgium under the RRF now stand at €3.07 billion, which is around 58% of the initial funds allocated at the start of the plan.Belgiums overall recovery and resilience plan is financed by €5 billion in grants and €244 million in loans.
