The European Commission has positively assessed the key milestone in Romanias third payment request under the RRF, focusing on reducing special taxes for micro-enterprises. Of the 74 milestones, 68 have been met, totaling €2 billion in funding. The request includes 37 reforms and 17 investments aimed at green and digital transitions, sustainable transport, and more. Key measures involve electricity market reform and tax system changes for micro-enterprises. However, six milestones remain unmet, triggering a payment suspension procedure, allowing Romania time to comply while receiving partial payments. The Economic and Financial Committee will review the Commissions assessment, and Romania can respond to the findings. The Commission will make a final payment decision after considering all feedback.
