Commission accelerates migration pact
The European Commission has announced today that it will speed up the implementation of parts of the migration and asylum pact, which was adopted last year and is set to come into force in June 2026. It proposes to make asylum procedures more efficient for applicants with little chance of success by introducing a European list of safe countries of origin, allowing for faster processing of applications.

Dangerous products in Safety Gate 2024
The European Commission has presented its annual report on Safety Gate, the European rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products. Last year, there were 4,137 alerts, the highest number ever.

Approval of Alzheimers medicine
The Commission has approved Leqembi, a medicine for the early stages of Alzheimers disease. It is the first medicine approved for this in the EU.

New export control recommendations
The EU has issued a recommendation to improve the coordination of national lists of dual-use goods, aiming to promote a uniform approach within the EU.
