Commission Approves HUF Acquisition by Huf Holding and SODECIA
The European Commission has approved the joint control of Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst GmbH & Co. KG and Huf Industrieverwaltung GmbH (HUF) by Huf Holding GmbH & Co. KG from Germany, and Sodecia Participações Sociais, S.G.P.S., S.A. from Portugal.
The transaction primarily involves the development and production of automotive parts.
The Commission concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns, as the companies do not operate in the same or vertically related markets. The transaction was reviewed under the simplified merger procedure.

Commission Approves Rimi Baltic Acquisition by Salling Group
The European Commission has approved the acquisition of sole control of Rimi Baltic AB from Sweden by Salling Group A/S from Denmark.
The transaction mainly concerns the retail of consumer goods.
The Commission found that the transaction would not raise competition concerns, as the companies do not operate in the same or vertically related markets. Specifically, Salling Group operates primarily in Denmark, Germany, and Poland, while Rimi Baltic operates in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The transaction was reviewed under the simplified merger procedure.

Commission Approves Codim and Adis Acquisition by Auchan
The European Commission has approved the acquisition of sole control of Codim and Adis by Auchan Retail International (Auchan), all from France.
The transaction primarily concerns the retail distribution of food products.
The Commission concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns due to the limited combined market position of the companies resulting from the transaction. The transaction was reviewed under the simplified merger procedure.

Commissioner Tzitzikostas in Greece to Discuss Ports and Maritime Tourism
Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the commissioner for sustainable transport and tourism, is in Greece this week for significant maritime events.
On 6 May, the commissioner will deliver a keynote speech at the Posidonia Sea Tourism forum. The 8th edition of this event brings together stakeholders from the cruise industry, tourist destinations, and maritime tourism authorities in Greece and the eastern Mediterranean to discuss the evolution of cruise tourism. The forum will cover a wide range of challenges and opportunities for the industry in the region.
On 8 May, the commissioner will address the ESPO conference, which this year will focus on Towards a Strategy for European Ports in the Post-2024 Era. Competitiveness, security, and the net-zero transition of European ports are among the key topics to be discussed. Additionally, the commissioner will discuss the sectors strategic priorities with the directors-general of 30 EU ports.
Prior to his visit, the commissioner for sustainable transport and tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, stated: European ports are at the forefront of todays most pressing challenges - and they hold the key to solving them. As hubs for energy, military mobility, logistics, and international trade, they are essential to strengthening our geopolitical resilience. Ports also play an increasingly vital role in defining the future of cruise tourism. At the same time, they offer enormous potential in terms of sustainable development and economic competitiveness. These are precisely the ambitions that the future EU port strategy seeks to promote, ensuring that our ports thrive as modern and resilient gateways to the world.
