Commission takes action to ensure timely transposition of EU directives
The European Commission is taking action against several EU Member States that have failed to notify the Commission of the measures they have adopted to transpose EU directives into their national laws. The deadline for these transpositions has recently expired. The Commission is sending a letter of formal notice to these Member States, giving them two months to respond and complete the transposition of the directives. If they fail to do so, the Commission may issue a stronger warning, known as a reasoned opinion. The Member States in question have failed to fully transpose EU directives related to defense, energy, transport, justice, and health. The Commission urges them to take immediate action to align their laws with EU requirements.

EU agri-food trade remains stable in April 2025
The latest agri-food trade report published by the European Commission shows that the EU agri-food trade remained stable in April 2025.
EU agri-food exports reached €20.1 billion in April 2025. This is a 4% drop from March but still 2% above the same month last year. The UK was the strongest growth market between January and April, with exports up €778 million (+4%), mainly due to higher cocoa product prices. Exports to Switzerland rose by €467 million (+11%), also led by cocoa-based products. Cocoa and coffee prices continued to support overall export values.
More insights and detailed tables are available in the latest edition of the monthly EU agri-food trade report.
