National parliaments engaging in a more dynamic political dialogue with the Commission, according to latest report
The European Commissions latest annual report on relations with national parliaments shows a wider range of legislatures now engaging in active political dialogue.
National parliaments are increasingly working together to influence EU affairs, providing forward-looking input on the Commissions legislative programme well in advance of official proposals. This push to strengthen their role in EU policymaking is evident in their collective efforts, such as meeting in informal groups and co-signing opinions. Notably, their joint input for the strategic agenda for the 2024-2029 institutional cycle, provided through the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs (COSAC), further demonstrates this collaborative approach.
Subsidiarity and proportionality principles ensure that the EU acts only when it is more effective than national governments, and that its actions are proportionate to its goals. The reports findings offer a valuable annual overview of how these fundamental democratic checks and balances are being put into practice.

Commission clears acquisition of NEOGOV by CPP Investments and EFMS
The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Governmentjobs.com, Inc. (‘NEOGOV) of the US by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (‘CPP Investments) of Canada and EQT Fund Management S.à.r.l (‘EFMS) of Luxembourg.
The transaction relates primarily to cloud-based human capital management and compliance management software for the public sector.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the limited impact on the European Economic Area. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
More information is available on the Commissions competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.12126.
