EU funds enhance Croatian wastewater systems

The EU invested €33 million to improve wastewater management in Novi Vinodolski, Crikvenica, and Selce along the Adriatic coast. Significant upgrades in the sewerage network aim to reduce water loss and prevent illegal connections.

Since 2017, 53 km of new pipelines have been laid, and 19 km have been revamped. The installation includes new water supply lines and pumping stations.

Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto emphasized the projects environmental benefits and enhanced safety for residents and tourists.

Completion is projected for 2027, with further improvements in treatment plants and solar-powered sludge dryers. These upgrades are expected to boost local tourism and business appeal.
