The European Commission positively assesses Greeces request for a payment of 3.13 billion euros under NextGenerationEU*
The European Commission has published a preliminary positive evaluation concerning Greeces request for a payment of 3.13 billion euros under the NextGenerationEU initiatives. This payment is a crucial part of the broader European recovery efforts to build a greener, digital, and competitive Union. The evaluation confirms that Greece has successfully achieved the necessary milestones and targets to receive this funding, as part of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
The funding request is supported by 14 reforms aimed at modernizing critical sectors of the Greek economy, such as improving the judicial system and streamlining public procurement. Additionally, the request includes 17 investments in strategic areas, including affordable housing and renewable energy.
Key projects include the modernization of the Greek electricity grid and the reform of the public sector to simplify procedures and expand digital services.
The positive assessment is now being reviewed by the Economic and Financial Committee, which has four weeks to deliver its opinion. If the opinion is positive, the Commission will formally adopt the payment decision.
