Commission to invest €1.3 billion in AI, cybersecurity, and digital skills
The Commission will allocate €1.3 billion for deploying critical technologies vital for Europes tech future and sovereignty through the Digital Europe Programme. The focus includes AI adoption in businesses and public administration, cloud and data enhancements, and boosting cyber resilience and digital skills.
Key priorities include advancing AI in sectors like health, supporting the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) for technical expertise, developing the Destination Earth for climate management, and enhancing the EU Digital Identity Wallet.
Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, stated the importance of investing in advanced technologies to secure European tech sovereignty.
DIGITAL, the EUs first funding program focused on digital technology, has a budget of €8.1 billion under the current Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027, shaping Europes digital transformation.
