The Commission disburses the second payment of 1.18 billion euros to the Netherlands under the Recovery and Resilience Facility
Today, the European Commission has granted 1.18 billion euros in grants to the Netherlands as their second tranche under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). As with all Member States, payments to the Netherlands are performance-based and depend on implementing investments and reforms in their recovery and resilience plan.
On 13 December 2024, the Netherlands submitted a request for payment of 1.18 billion euros, focusing on 15 milestones and 6 targets. It includes reforms and investments in renewable energy, electricity grid expansion, and residential construction procedures. Also covered are rail traffic management, digitization of the judicial chain, professional reskilling of the unemployed, and expansion of hospital intensive care units.
On 17 February 2025, the Commission adopted a positive preliminary assessment of the Dutch payment request. The favorable opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council on this payment request paved the way for the Commissions final decision to release the funds.
The Netherlands recovery and resilience plan is financed with 5.4 billion euros in grants. An interactive map showing examples of supported reforms and investments is available online. More information about the Dutch plan can be found here.
