We have just concluded our fourth European Humanitarian Forum. I would like to thank the Polish Presidency for their outstanding cooperation in co-hosting this event.
Our humanitarian systems are being tested today. This Forum is our collective response.
It shows our identity and beliefs as a humanitarian community: saving lives, easing suffering, and collaborating to help those most in need, wherever they are.
The European Union remains a strong and reliable humanitarian partner. We are increasing our support and becoming the worlds largest humanitarian aid provider.
This year, we raised our humanitarian budget to 1.9 billion euros, with an additional €350 million in April, totaling nearly €2.3 billion.
This funding supports the most urgent global crises and strengthens essential humanitarian services, such as logistics and security.
Over 305 million people need assistance today. Needs are rising, but funding is being cut. We must remain committed to solidarity and international law.
Humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence remain our guiding principles. At this Forum, we showed global solidarity with over 2,300 participants.
We focus on three crucial areas: improving aid efficiency, strengthening diplomacy to protect civilians, and developing an integrated EU approach to global fragility.
We continue global cooperation to save lives, without political gain. The EU renewed its support to Ukraine and called for civilian protection in conflict areas like Gaza and Sudan.
The EU remains committed to effective multilateral cooperation and UN reforms for better aid delivery.
This Forum is about our humanity, solidarity, and responsibility. The European Union will fulfill its responsibility.
