Good evening, everyone, and thank you, Pär, for your kind invitation.
Its a pleasure to be here today to celebrate EUREAUs 50th anniversary.
EUREAU began in 1972 with a small group of water professionals from six European countries to provide input on water legislation.
I was born in the same year. Now, fifty years later, EUREAU is a respected voice for Europes water operators.
Water is everywhere. It is essential for our security, economy, and health. It plays a central role in the Commissions work.
The challenges are known – we need to innovate, mobilize funding, and raise awareness.
We must also keep the global dimension in mind, as water issues do not stop at the EU borders.
I count on EUREAU as a reliable partner to achieve water resilience in Europe.
With your help, we have shaped important legislation like the Drinking Water and Urban Wastewater Treatment Directives.
The new Water Resilience Strategy will be published soon. This is just the beginning of a long journey.
The real work happens at the local level in member states.
I rely on your experience and creativity to improve our water security.
Water security must be a priority for all of us.
Together, we can build a future where water systems are resilient.
Lets work together for a safe and sustainable water future for Europe.
I wish you a well-deserved celebration and a bright future. Lets make a difference together!
Congratulations and a big applause to EUREAU!
