Because Ukrainian flag is very special. It creates very special emotions everywhere in the world.
Ukrainian Flag is the symbol of Maidan and of fight for indendence. Ukrainians are dying with this flag while defending Ukraine.
That is why your flag has such a special meaning. That is why this day is also very special. Not only for Ukrainians.
Congratulations with such an important day!
Today also is a very special day - because today we commemorate 86 year anniversary of Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which was an agreement in between of two dictators:Stalin and Hitler hoe to divide Europe.
It also was an opening to II WW and begining of 50 years enslavery of Baltic States and later on of Central Europe.
We need to learn lessons of history: no divisions of Europe in to zones of influence. Every country has the right to chose their destiny to be member of NATO or EU. Including Ukraine. And nobody has veto right on such choice, even Putin.
Today also we can remember that back in 1989 on 23d of August Baltic Way from Tallin to Vilnius was organized by Baltic people to demonstrate our will for independence with our flags in the hands. That is how we regained our independence and helped to destroy Soviet Empire.
Empire is trying to strike back. In Ukraine and against Ukraine.
And we need to fight back. In Solidarity with Ukraine.
Tomorrow - Ukrainian Independence Day.
European democracy and European freedom is not possible without independence of Ukraine. You are fighting not only for your independence, but also for the future of free Europe.
The future of Europe would be totally different if Putin would succeed.
And he will not succeed. Because there is Ukraine. Ukraine with its flag. Flag of history, flag of pain, flag of struggle and flag of victory and flag of heroes
European Union is standing together with you, and we shall continue to support you.
But we, not you, need to say very loudly to you “Thank You!. Thank you very much for what you are doing while defending all of us. Defending the future of Europe, the future of our kids and grandkids”.
That is why your flag is also our flag. Flag of our hearts and of our dreams to live in Europe - whole, free and at peace.
Your flag is a flag of peace. Of a just peace, which will be won!
