Today, we discuss the future of European fisheries, an essential part of our coastal communities and economy. Fisheries provide food and a sustainable marine environment.

Our fishers face challenges in a changing world. We must collaborate to give them a fair chance. Through joint efforts, we can shape their future.

We are here today to mark the completion of the EU foresight study on the future of fisheries and use the findings for future steps. This study, with over 190 participants, explores scenarios and challenges up to 2050.

Our discussions today help us understand and improve the fisheries sector. We will continue dialogues and visits to coastal communities to discuss the future of fisheries.

Our goal is to reflect on the common fisheries policy and determine necessary actions to ensure a sustainable future for the sector.
