Ladies and gentlemen,
I am delighted to be here this evening to celebrate the incredible achievements of cities and organizations making a difference. Sustainable urban mobility remains a priority for the European Commission, impacting cleaner air, less noise, and a better quality of life. The cities honored tonight exemplify expertise in transforming public spaces into welcoming areas. Sustainable transport isnt just about moving from A to B; its about creating accessible and enjoyable urban centers. The European Commission proudly supports cities on this journey, working to make public transport safer and cleaner while promoting cycling and walking. The EUs trans-European transport network framework helps cities access clean transport options. The CIVITAS community and the Expert Group on Urban Mobility offer invaluable support. An upcoming report on the European Declaration on Cycling highlights cycling as a sustainable and economic growth engine. European Mobility Week inspires change, and todays awards recognize exceptional efforts. Thank you to all participants. Join us at the Urban Mobility Days Conference in Vilnius, Lithuania, this September to share ideas and build the future of urban mobility.
