KANANASKIS WILDFIRE CHARTER
We, the Leaders of the G7, are alarmed by record-breaking wildfires across every forested continent over the last decade, straining national resources and prompting requests for international assistance. These extreme wildfires threaten lives, harm public health, destroy homes and ecosystems, and cost governments billions annually.
We commit to enhancing global cooperation to prevent, combat, and recover from wildfires through integrated actions aimed at reducing their occurrence and impacts while ensuring readiness to assist one another and our partners when necessary.
We will prevent and mitigate wildfires by:
- Adopting a whole-of-society approach that includes various levels of government, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, NGOs, academia, and the private sector to share knowledge and drive research on risk reduction.
- Implementing mitigation and adaptation strategies based on scientific research and local knowledge, such as sustainable forest management and controlled burning practices, to lower wildfire risks.
- Raising awareness about the causes of wildfires and preventative measures to reduce accidental and malicious ignitions.
We will enhance global capacity to prepare for and respond to wildfires by:
- Leveraging research and technology to forecast and monitor wildfires, including fire danger rating systems and early warning systems for communities.
- Collaborating on data collection to better understand wildfire impacts on diverse populations.
- Building capacity to mitigate health impacts related to wildfires.
- Enhancing interoperability through sharing best practices and developing common protocols for wildfire response.
- Improving access to firefighting equipment tailored to specific country needs.
We will rebuild for resilience after wildfires by:
- Identifying areas for restoration and employing nature-based solutions to bolster resilience.
- Reconstructing with wildfire-resilient infrastructure, enhancing urban planning to mitigate risks.
- Encouraging research to refine sustainable forest management practices and community-based approaches.
We will align our efforts with the G20 and collaborate through platforms like the UN Global Fire Management Hub, aiming to halt deforestation by 2030.
Together, we will foster a coordinated global response to wildfire resilience.
We welcome the endorsement of the Kananaskis Wildfire Charter by the Leaders of Australia,
India, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, and South Africa.

G7 CRITICAL MINERALS ACTION PLAN
We, the Leaders of the G7, acknowledge that critical minerals are vital for future digital and energy security. We commit to transparency, diversification, and sustainable mining practices, recognizing their role in economic prosperity.
We share national security interests reliant on resilient critical minerals supply chains governed by market principles. Non-market practices threaten access to essential minerals, and we will collaborate to protect our economies by anticipating shortages and diversifying supply chains.
The G7 Critical Minerals Action Plan will build on previous frameworks and focus on diversifying production, encouraging investment, and promoting innovation.
Building standards-based markets
We will create a roadmap for standards-based critical minerals markets, working with stakeholders to strengthen traceability and assess market impacts.
Mobilizing capital and investing in partnerships
We will increase investments in responsible critical minerals projects globally, addressing barriers to ensure sustainable supply chains.
We will deepen cooperation with emerging market partners, promoting local value creation and responsible mining practices.
Promoting innovation
We will enhance collaboration on critical minerals research and development, focusing on processing and recycling.
We look forward to the upcoming Conference on Critical Materials and Minerals in September 2025.
We welcome the endorsement of the G7 Critical Minerals Action Plan by Leaders of Australia,
India, and the Republic of Korea.

We commit to fostering a common understanding of TNR, raising awareness, and promoting accountability to deter such acts.
We will develop a TNR Resilience and Response Framework to enhance G7 cooperation and share best practices.
We will launch a Digital TNR Detection Academy to build capacity in detecting TNR online.
