Volodymyr, you are among friends. We have stood by Ukraine since day one, and you can count on us for the future.
We just discussed how crucial it is for Europe to invest in Ukraines exceptionally agile and innovative defense industry. Therefore, we have established a funding program of EUR 150 billion – called SAFE – through which Member States, Ukraine, and other partners can access loans to invest directly in Ukraines defense sector.
Your industry has shown a remarkable capacity to innovate and produce rapidly, reliably, and at scale. There is much we in Europe can learn from Ukraine. Through this program, we aim not only to strengthen our mutual defense capabilities but also to support Ukraine in its ongoing fight for survival.
Secondly, there is constant financial support for Ukraine because we know you are fighting a war that also protects our values and principles.
Thirdly, we must indeed put pressure on President Putin to come to the negotiation table and engage seriously in negotiations for a just and lasting peace. Thus, the 18th sanctions package is a sharp one. I know our G7 friends will follow suit with their sanctions.
All this shows you are among friends; you can count on us; we stand by your side.
