Commissioner Šefčovič had a good phone call with WTO Director-General Ngozi. This follows their recent meeting during the OECD Ministerial in June. The focus remains on our shared ambition to maintain a rules-based trading system and to collaborate on ways to revitalize and strengthen it. This includes the urgent need for meaningful WTO reform to address todays realities and trade challenges, such as non-market policies. We will achieve more if we seize this opportunity collectively. Therefore, the EU has been engaging with like-minded partners to explore how best to reinvigorate the WTO and the rules-based trading system.
