Prime Minister,
Thank you for hosting us at the 30th Japan–EU Summit; it is great to be back in Tokyo. My visit to the Osaka World Expo yesterday was a highlight. The Japanese pavilion impressed me with its craftsmanship and elegance, embodying the essence of our partnership: calm, resilience, and deep roots. This is essential in a turbulent world. Europe and Japan are close friends who share values of fairness, openness, and respect for rules. Together, we have the capacity to defend our interests and influence global outcomes, representing a fifth of the worlds GDP. Our Economic Partnership Agreement is robust and effective. This Summit provides an opportunity to enhance our competitiveness, improve our security, and establish global standards that reflect our values. I look forward to our discussions.
