Remarks by President von der Leyen at the Start of the Meeting with US President Trump

Dear President,

Thank you for inviting me. Todays meeting centers on trade between the EU and US, as we represent the largest economies worldwide, with a trade volume of USD 1.7 trillion. Our combined markets encompass around 800 million people.

I look forward to our discussions. While our teams have prepared, the responsibility now lies with us. You are recognized as a strong negotiator, and if successful, this could be the largest trade deal either of us has achieved.
