We had a very successful meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. The coalition has grown larger, stronger, and more determined. I have essentially three key takeaways. First, there was a broad discussion on how to enhance support for Ukraine in the short term, both financially and militarily; Ukraines military and financial needs must be met. We will advance the EUs portion of the G7 loans for Ukraine.
Second, maintaining pressure on Russia is critical. The sanctions will remain in place. Our goal is a just and lasting peace agreement.
Third, there was focus on long-term support for Ukraine and strengthening our European defense posture. The Readiness 2030 plan is vital, offering up to EUR 800 billion in defense investment opportunities for Member States. This includes joint procurement with Ukraine and strengthening Ukraines defense industrial base. Additionally, developing our own defense industrial base in the EU is necessary for credible deterrence and defense.
