The parties are usually well represented in this two-day debate about the main lines of cabinet policy.  Two roundsThe debate takes place in two rounds. On Wednesday, September 17, some parties presented their views and assessments of the plans presented on Princes Day. On Thursday, September 18, the remaining parties follow. The prime minister responds to this. Then there is usually another round that day, often with votes on any submitted motions. Discussing budgetsTwo weeks after the General Political Discussions, the General Financial Discussions follow. In this, the financial consequences of the plans are discussed in detail with the Minister of Finance. Due to the elections, the debates on the budgets of the individual ministries will this time only take place in the period December-February, after the new members of parliament take office.
