Bram Kouwenhoven and Ruud Verkuijlen were sworn in on May 14 by Chairman Martin Bosma as members of parliament. Kouwenhoven is part of the NSC faction. Verkuijlen takes a seat in the Chamber for the VVD.
Municipality of The Hague
Kouwenhoven comes to the Chamber after the departure of Pieter Omtzigt. After studying Public Administration and Philosophy, he worked both in the private sector and for the government, including as a consultant and advisor. He worked for the Tax and Customs Administration, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA), and the municipality of The Hague.
National Police
Verkuijlen succeeds Jacqueline van den Hil, who also took leave on May 13. Previously, the VVD member worked for the National Police, including as a commissioner and head of Research & Development. He was also project leader at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and a municipal councilor in Hilversum. Verkuijlen was in the Chamber from September 2021 to December 2023, with a short interruption.
