The building of the House of Representatives is open to the public on weekdays, even during the summer recess. Visit the exhibitions or take part in the treasure hunt for children aged 8 to 12.
During the summer recess (Friday, July 4 to Monday, September 2025), no meetings will take place. The building is open on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Exhibitions and treasure hunt
Visitors can admire the permanent exhibition about the House of Representatives set up in the Statenpassage. Here, the facets of Dutch democracy can be seen. There is also the exhibition Gifts to the House: coins on display. Children aged 8 to 12 can participate in an informative treasure hunt.
In early July 2025, the exhibition ‘The House of Representatives and the ‘Forgotten War’ in Korea’ will open. This exhibition focuses on the parliamentary debate of June 30, 1950, in which the House agreed to Dutch participation in the UN fighting force to defend South Korea.
What does the House do during the recess?
During the recess, there are no debates in the House unless the members are recalled. Other parliamentary work continues during the recess. Members still submit written questions to the government. The government also sends documents to the House. Additionally, there is time for members to read their files and literature. Furthermore, there is time for work visits or internships, and to gain experience and knowledge in a specific field. For example, members can experience how government policy plays out in practice for organizations and citizens. They use this knowledge in debates and to develop or elaborate on new ideas or legislative proposals.
Registration
Visitors must register in advance, which can be done online at External link:bezoekers.tweedekamer.nl or at the columns at the entrance. An ID is required. Read more about a visit to the House.
